Today I purchased a Mediacenter 27 Master Licence and updated the licence on MC26 on my Windows 10 machine. I know for me, once Intel Macs (and Hackintoshes) go away and all supported Macs are ARM-based, that it's the end of the road for me with using Macs and macOS. With Apple also intending to drop AMD GPUs and replace them with Apple GPUs, re-writing a large portion of the application is likely unavoidable. One of the biggest hurdles is likely they'd need to re-write the OpenGL code MC for Mac uses for Metal 2, which is likely a large undertaking. I'm not sure if any of the ARM code for the MC for Linux version could be leveraged or not, but I'm going to guess no. Going from x86_64 (Intel) to ARM (Apple's Silicon) isn't an easy or quick process. There's also other potential factors like the various issues they've had with Xcode for the last year and Apple's tightening grip of the entire ecosystem with them now moving into controlling all of the hardware side of things. Once Intel Mac support is completely dropped by Apple in about 7 years, it might mean the end of the road for them supporting the Mac platform, but know knows I could be wrong on my guess. Depending on the amount of work needed (which is likely a ton) I honestly wouldn't be surprised if JRiver decided not to develop an ARM version of MC for Mac because of the large development costs likely needed for seemingly little gains. I don't know what JRiver's plans are (or if they're even considering on support ARM on macOS) but if they are eventually going to do an ARM build of MC for Mac, I wouldn't expect it for a good while, perhaps not even during the MC27 release cycle. When loading the VST2 in MC27, the plugin loads, and the cursor spins for a moment and then I get the mouse pointer back, but the plugin is not seen. I compiled one of their examples, GainPlugin as both a VST2 and VST3 plugin. makes a pretty good framework for multi-platform audio applications. Awesome Matt! Super happy that this is being implemented! Thank you!
